EV charger installation in Belgium
A charge point is the heaviest continuous load a home gains, which makes available capacity the decisive point. The question is not whether a charger can be connected, but what remains available while it charges and other appliances run. So we measure the real consumption at the main supply, derive the charging capacity that holds up, and fit the point on its own circuit with the correct protection.

Our approach
Size a charge point on measured capacity
We measure the main supply, set a realistic charge power, pull a dedicated circuit with the right section and RCD, set limiting or dynamic control and test a charge cycle.
- 01
Measure capacity and supply
We measure the load at the main supply across a period of use and review the phases available. From that follows the charging capacity that is realistic without tripping the main protection.
- 02
Decide circuit and route
The charger gets a dedicated circuit, with a conductor size calculated for the route length. The route is chosen for accessibility, since cable in conduit stays replaceable later.
- 03
Fit and protect
The charger is fitted with the RCD protection and breaker specific to the unit. The earthing is measured, because chargers demand more on this point than an ordinary circuit.
- 04
Configure and test
Charging capacity is limited to the measured availability, with dynamic management where that makes sense. We test a full charging cycle and remeasure the circuit before handover.
Common causes
Why a charge point hits capacity or protection limits
A charge point fails or cannot run at full power if the main supply is already near its limit, if no free way remains or if the RCD does not match the unit. Without a capacity check people oversize the charger and the main breaker trips while charging.
An undersized cable, a run without conduit or earthing that fails the stricter requirements of charging causes heat or inspection issues. That is a different bottleneck from the wallbox brand itself.
Dynamic load control is sometimes missing while the home cooks, heats and charges together. Then limiting or steering charge power is needed, not only a larger breaker.

Signs to watch
When charging puts the installation under pressure
These signs point to a mismatch between charge power, main supply or protection.
- The main breaker or a circuit trips as soon as the vehicle charges.
- There is no free way or suitable RCD in the board.
- The requested charge power does not match measured availability.
- The cable to the parking spot is too thin or not in conduit.
- Earthing readings do not meet charge-point needs.
- Charging together with cooking or heating causes systematic peaks.
Until we arrive
What to prepare for a charge point
Details on vehicle, parking and the existing board shorten the capacity check. Do not fit anything yourself on the main supply.
- 01
Note desired location and cable path
Say whether the wallbox will be indoors, outdoors or in the garage and which route to the board looks possible.
- 02
Mention vehicle type and desired power
Single- or three-phase charging and typical charge power set section and breaker.
- 03
Make board and meter reachable
We need to see ways, main supply and earthing. Clear the access.
- 04
Call with those details
Say if pre-wiring already exists.

What sets the price
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site.
Price depends on cable distance, indoor or outdoor mounting, any board work and whether dynamic load control is needed. A short garage circuit is not charged like a long outdoor run with board extension.
You get the final price after on-site measurement, before pulling or fitting. Call for a first indication, with no obligation.
Benefits
- Available capacity measured at the main supply before the choice
- Dedicated circuit with the RCD protection the charger requires
- Charging capacity limited or dynamically managed where needed
- Cable route chosen for accessibility and correct conductor size
- Earthing measured, since chargers are stricter on this point

+32 2 000 00 00What does charge-point installation cost?
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site. The final price depends on the distance from the consumer unit to the charge point, the work needed on the board, the load control and the type of charger.
Can every home get a charge point at full power?
Not always. We first measure what remains on the main supply. Sometimes we limit charge power or steer it dynamically with home use.
Do I need a separate RCD?
Charge points need specific residual-current protection. We choose the type that matches the unit and the installation, not just what already sits in the board.
Do you also work outdoors or under a carport?
Yes. We choose weather-rated materials, pull in conduit where needed and measure earthing and circuit after fitting.
How soon can a charge point be fitted?
After the capacity check we schedule pull and fit depending on the area and availability; a simple garage circuit is quicker, it takes longer if the board or route must be prepared first. Our line is available 24/7.
What warranty applies to the installation?
Up to 2 years warranty on labour; parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.
When should you call an electrician straight away?
Some signs are worth acting on: a burning smell, a socket or switch that feels unusually hot, scorch marks, crackling sounds, breakers that keep tripping, an unexplained loss of power, or an electrical problem after water has got in. Where there are signs of overheating, or a fault that keeps returning, avoid resetting the circuit again and again before the cause has been found.
