Central heating installation in Belgium
Central heating is a full system: generation, distribution, manifolds, radiators or underfloor heating and controls must work together. We do not start by hanging a boiler; we start with heat loss and useful power per room in kilowatts. That figure drives pipe diameters, flow temperature, pump duty and the choice between condensing gas, heat pump or hybrid, matched to insulation and budget.

Our approach
Central heating with calculation first
We always follow the same order: kW and heat loss, choice of generation and emitters, pipe plan, installation with balancing, pressure test and handover documents where applicable.
- 01
Energy analysis and kW calculation
We assess heat demand per room from volume, insulation, glazing and use. That yields the kW requirement and expected flow temperatures so no appliance is picked on nameplate alone.
- 02
Choice of generation and emitters
From the calculation we compare condensing gas, heat pump, hybrid or mixes with underfloor and radiators. We spell out pros and limits for your case without pushing a single path.
- 03
Pipe plan and manifolds
We draw routes with isolation per zone, high-point vents and manifolds. In renovation we tie into existing chases where safe; otherwise we plan targeted openings with minimal finish damage.
- 04
Install, fill and balance
Generation, pump, expansion vessel and pipework are fitted to plan. After flushing and filling we vent and hydraulically balance each radiator or manifold group, noting flow or preset settings.
- 05
Pressure test, paperwork and handover
The circuit is pressurised and checked. You receive setpoints, measurement points and, where applicable, references to EPB or gas conformity documents that belong in your file, plus guidance on upkeep.
Why renew or redesign
When the existing circuit falls short
Insufficient power after an extension or uneven insulation creates cold zones while other rooms overheat. Without a recalculation, radiators get added without scaling pipes or pump.
Unbalanced circuits force the boiler to high flow temperature while distant radiators stay lukewarm. Undersized pipes, wrong diameters or missing zone valves make later servicing and balancing difficult.
Older generation with high return temperatures fits poorly with underfloor or low-temperature emitters. A new appliance on unchanged hydraulics repeats the same comfort issue with a higher bill.
Related work
From boiler to controls and efficiency
A central heating installation touches boiler, pipework, emitters and controls. We point to the right follow-up when one part needs separate attention.
- Boiler installation - fit generation on a correctly sized circuit
- Underfloor heating - low-temperature emitters with manifolds and flow setting
- Radiators - size, fit or replace room by room
- Thermostat and controls - align zones, flow temperature and boiler control
- Energy-efficient heating - cut consumption with suitable generation and controls
Signals to watch
When a full rethink makes sense
These signs show generation, pipes and emitters no longer cooperate. A recalculation avoids costly trial and error on site.
- One or more rooms stay structurally cold while the boiler often runs at high flow temperature.
- The pump runs continuously or noisily while radiators heat unevenly.
- After an extension or new insulation, consumption rises without clear comfort gain.
- Underfloor and radiators share one circuit without clear zones or balancing.
- Pipework was reduced, drilled or partly replaced without an overall plan.
- You plan a heat pump or hybrid but doubt existing pipes and emitters will cope.
Before the job starts
What to prepare for an installation project
A few preparations speed up survey and fitting. You do not need to open pipework yourself.
- 01
Note cold spots and comfort goals
List which rooms run too cold or hot on each floor and when you are home. That supports room analysis and zoning.
- 02
Clear access to plant room and manifolds
Space around the current boiler, vessel and any manifolds lets us measure and photograph without moving furniture on the day.
- 03
Share drawings or renovation schedule
Architect plans, EPB reports or sketches of planned extensions make the pipe plan realistic, especially on new build or major renovation.
- 04
Call us with project type and timing
Say whether it is new build, partial or full renovation and when you need heat. We then chain survey and site work in one logical path.
Transparent pricing
What determines the price
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site.
Price depends on calculated output, number of emitter zones, pipe lengths, radiator versus underfloor choices and how much existing routing can be reused. A bare new-build circuit is not comparable to renovation with targeted openings in occupied rooms.
After survey and pipe plan you receive an agreed price before installation starts. Call us for an initial steer, with no obligation. Our line is available 24/7, with scheduling often the same week depending on availability.
Benefits
- Heat loss and kW need per room before equipment is chosen
- Full circuit: generation, distribution and emitters in one design
- Pipe diameters, manifolds and flow temperature backed by hydraulics
- Straight advice on gas, heat pump or hybrid for insulation and budget
- Hydraulic balancing and pressure test with recorded values at handover

FAQ
Frequently asked questions

+32 2 000 00 00How much does central heating installation cost?
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site. Price depends on calculated output, number of emitter zones, pipe lengths, radiator versus underfloor choices and how much existing routing can be reused.
Do you really start with a heat calculation?
Yes. Power per room and flow temperature set pipe sizes, pump and emitter choice. Only then do we discuss appliance and routing so the circuit is hydraulically sound.
Can heat pump, hybrid and gas be compared fairly?
We weigh options against insulation, space and budget. Deeper heat pump or cooling integration may tie to energy-efficient heating or air conditioning elsewhere; we mention that without bundling everything into one job.
What differs between new build and renovation?
On new build we align with the shell phase before finishes. In renovation we reuse chases where possible and limit breaking out to what is needed to work safely and maintain later.
Do you handle EPB or gas conformity filing?
Where applicable we point to documents that belong in your file, such as EPB data or gas conformity after installation. Van Dijk Home does not file EPB in every situation; that depends on your project and local requirements.
How long does a full installation take?
That depends on size, zones and whether underfloor heating is included. After survey we propose a site schedule. For a sudden loss of heating, see Heating emergency from building a complete new circuit.
Is there warranty on the installation?
Up to 2 years warranty on labour; parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.
When should you call a heating engineer straight away?
If you smell gas, leave the building and call 112 before doing anything else. Other signs also call for action: a carbon monoxide alarm going off, soot marks or fumes around the boiler, a lockout that keeps returning, or a leak on the heating circuit. Avoid resetting the boiler over and over, as the lockout protects the installation and points to a fault that needs tracing.
