Sink installation in Belgium
A sink looks simple, but the worktop cut-out, mount type and waste run decide whether it stays watertight for years. Van Dijk Home fits and replaces inset, undermount and flush-mount sinks in stainless steel, composite or ceramic. We match the fixing to wood, laminate or stone, connect trap and tap in the same visit, and leak-test before handover.

Our method
Fitting a sink with the mount matched to the worktop
For every sink we follow the same order: sizes and mount type, fix and seal the bowl, connect trap and tap, then leak-test until the base unit stays dry.
- 01
Check bowl type and worktop
We measure the cut-out, worktop thickness and the position of supply and waste. Those sizes show whether an inset, undermount or flush model fits, and whether the top must be adapted first.
- 02
Proposal before fitting
You receive a proposal that covers the mount type, bowl material and any trap or tap changes. Fitting starts only after your agreement.
- 03
Remove or set the opening
On a replacement we remove the old sink and check the top and connections. On a new kitchen we align the cut-out and waste with the chosen model.
- 04
Fit bowl, trap and tap
The bowl is fixed and sealed. Then come the trap with the correct fall and, if you want, the kitchen tap on hot and cold, without stressing the pipes.
- 05
Leak test and handover
We flush through, check joints, trap and tap couplings, and leave the kitchen dry. You know how to clean the trap later without forcing the bowl.
Technical core
Why mount type and sealing matter so much
An inset sink rests on the worktop rim, an undermount hangs under stone for a seamless edge, and a flush mount sits level with the surface. Each type needs a different fixing and a different seal.
The worktop material, wood, laminate or stone, decides how the bowl is held and how the edge is sealed. A seal that works on stone does not always hold against standing splash water on laminate.
Without enough fall in the trap, water sits or runs back. Together with a weak edge seal, that is the most common cause of moisture in the base unit after a sink is fitted.

Signs to watch
When a new or refitted sink is needed
These signs suggest removal and refitting beat another local seal job.
- Moisture or swollen board in the base unit around the sink edge.
- The existing bowl is loose, rusted through or too scaled to stay tight.
- You change from inset to undermount or flush with a new worktop.
- The trap no longer suits the new bowl or the waste backs up.
- You are fitting a new kitchen and the cut-out must match the model.
- The tap leaks as well, or the tap hole does not match the new bowl.
Before we arrive
What you prepare before fitting
A short preparation speeds the job and keeps the kitchen clearer. You do not need to dismantle anything yourself.
- 01
Clear the base unit
Remove cleaners and appliances under the sink so we can reach the trap, shut-offs and fixings.
- 02
Note bowl and worktop type
Say whether it is inset, undermount or flush, and whether the top is wood, laminate or stone. Photos of the cut-out help.
- 03
Make sure water can be isolated
Point out the shut-offs under the unit or the main stopcock. In a flat, mention rules for cutting the water.
- 04
Have the new bowl ready
If you supply the model, leave it in the kitchen with the maker's fixing kit. If anything is missing, we flag it before we start.
Clear pricing
A price that depends on the mounting type
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site.
The price depends mainly on the sink type and mount. Replacing an inset model is usually lighter work than an undermount or flush fit in a stone top, which needs more precision and sealing.
You receive an agreed price after the on-site survey, before fitting starts. Call for a first indication, no obligation.

+32 2 000 00 00How much does sink installation cost?
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site. The price depends mainly on the sink type and mount.
Which sink types can you fit?
We fit common formats: inset sinks that sit in the worktop, undermount models under a stone top, and flush sinks that sit level with the surface. Single and double bowls, with or without a drainer, are connected to supply and waste.
Can a new sink use the existing waste?
In most cases yes. We check the position, diameter and trap height of the existing waste. If the new model does not line up at once, we adapt the waste or trap so the joint is tight and water clears without backing up.
How long does fitting a sink take?
Replacing a standard inset sink usually takes one to two hours of on-site work, including removal, fitting and connecting trap and tap. Undermount or flush work in stone takes longer because of the precision of fixing and sealing. Visit scheduling depends on availability. Our line is available 24/7.
Do you also fit the kitchen tap in the same visit?
Yes. When we install a sink we can connect the kitchen tap to hot and cold in the same visit. After the leak test the bowl is ready to use at once.
Which material should I choose for a sink?
Stainless steel is light, hygienic and suits almost any worktop. Composite dampens noise and resists scratches in several colours. Ceramic gives a classic look but is heavier and needs a solid support. We advise which material fits your use and worktop.
Do you provide a waterproof finish around the sink?
Yes. Around the edge we apply a seal matched to the mount type and worktop material so water does not seep between bowl and top. That joint helps stop the top swelling and moisture reaching the base unit.
When should you call a plumber straight away?
Some signs are worth acting on straight away: a leak you cannot stop, water coming through a ceiling or a wall, a damp patch that keeps spreading, a sudden drop in pressure throughout the house, or water near a consumer unit or an electrical appliance. Close the main stop valve first: it limits the damage while the cause is being traced.
