Dishwasher connection in Belgium

Connecting a dishwasher is more than tightening two hoses. There must be a reachable stopcock on the cold supply, the waste height and air gap must stop backflow into the sink, and an Aquastop hose needs space without kinks. We check whether supply and waste points already exist, fit or renew what is missing, level the machine and run a test cycle.

Dishwasher connection: plumber tightening the trap under a sink

Our approach

Connect with supply, waste and test checks

For every dishwasher connection we follow the same order: check the points, join supply and waste correctly, level the machine and prove with a test cycle that there is no leak or backflow.

  1. 01

    Check supply and waste points

We see whether a cold-water branch with stopcock and a waste opening already sit beside the sink. If either is missing, we define a tee, trap with dishwasher take-off or standpipe before coupling the machine.

  2. 02

    Plan any missing points

You receive a proposal for stopcock, fittings and any creation of missing points. If the connections already exist, the scope stays limited. Work starts only after agreement.

  3. 03

    Join supply, waste and Aquastop

The inlet hose or Aquastop goes on the stopcock, the waste hose on the correct trap branch or standpipe at the prescribed height. We avoid kinks and pinching under the machine.

  4. 04

    Level, test cycle and handover

The machine is levelled, then a short rinse cycle follows. We check supply, waste and tightness under load. The stopcock stays reachable after the machine is pushed in.

Common situations

Why a dishwasher often needs reconnecting

Many kitchens have a sink but no dedicated stopcock or trap with a dishwasher take-off. A tee on the tap or a waste at the wrong height is then used instead. It seems fine until the first full cycle leaks or dirty water flows back.

An Aquastop hose that is kinked or pinched under the machine can leak or trip the safety shut-off. A machine that is not level drains poorly or leaves residual water in the tub.

The same logic applies to a washing machine: stopcock, waste height and air gap matter there too. On a shared waste with the sink, the branch must prevent backflow, otherwise dirty water rises in the bowl when the machine pumps out.

Signals to watch

When the connection is not in order

These signs point to a supply, waste or level problem before water damage grows.

  • Damp or a puddle under the dishwasher after a wash.
  • Water rises in the sink when the machine drains.
  • No dedicated stopcock: the inlet hangs off the kitchen tap.
  • The Aquastop hose is kinked or pinched under the machine.
  • The door closes poorly or the tub holds residual water.
  • A washing machine on the same waste shows the same backflow.

Until we arrive

What to do before the connection

A few preparations make the visit more efficient. Do nothing that further puts strain on the existing pipes.

  1. 01

Leave the machine in the kitchen, not pushed fully in

Keep space behind or beside the opening so we can reach stopcock and trap. Do not push the machine fully home yet.

  2. 02

Keep the manual and Aquastop to hand

Say whether the machine has an Aquastop and whether a cold-water cock already sits under the sink. That sets which materials we bring.

  3. 03

    Clear under the sink

Remove detergents and tubs so the stopcock, trap and any washing-machine branch stay reachable.

  4. 04

Call with a short description of the points

Say whether supply and waste already exist. If they are missing, we plan tee or trap materials with the visit.

Transparent pricing

Price after the finding, especially when points are missing

Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site.

The price depends on what is already there. If a cold-water stopcock and a usable waste opening exist, the job stays at connection, level and test cycle, often in the same visit. If a tee, trap take-off or standpipe is missing, that creation is included in the price.

You receive the final price after the on-site finding, before work begins. Call for a first indication, with no obligation.

Benefits

  • Dedicated cold-water stopcock, reachable after the machine is pushed in
  • Waste height and air gap checked against backflow into the sink
  • Aquastop hose without kinks, with room for the safety sleeve
  • Levelled, then a short test cycle before handover

How much does dishwasher connection cost?

Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site. The price depends on what is already there.

How long does connecting a dishwasher take?

If a cold-water stopcock and waste point already exist, the connection is often finished in the same visit, including level and test cycle. If those points are missing, creating a tee or trap comes first. Scheduling depends on availability.

What if there is no water or waste point yet?

We fit a branch with stopcock on the cold supply and a trap with dishwasher take-off or a standpipe at the right height. That work is done before we couple the machine.

Why does waste height matter so much?

A waste that sits too low or is wrongly joined lets dirty water back up into the sink or the machine. We follow the maker's prescribed height and air gap so the pump works correctly.

Do you also connect a washing machine?

Yes. A washing machine follows the same logic: stopcock on cold water, waste at the right height and a check for kinks. On a shared waste with the sink, we also check for backflow.

What is an Aquastop and do you check it?

An Aquastop is an inlet hose with leak protection. We check that it is connected without kinks and that the sleeve is not pinched under the machine. A damaged Aquastop is replaced rather than simply retightened.

Do I get a warranty on the connection?

Up to 2 years warranty on labour; parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.

When should you call a plumber straight away?

Some signs are worth acting on straight away: a leak you cannot stop, water coming through a ceiling or a wall, a damp patch that keeps spreading, a sudden drop in pressure throughout the house, or water near a consumer unit or an electrical appliance. Close the main stop valve first: it limits the damage while the cause is being traced.
