Pin down the symptom
We establish whether the unit fails to cool, cuts out intermittently or leaks, and when that happens. Each of those three leads to a different part of the installation and different measurements.

Measure on the circuit
Pressures and temperatures are measured and compared with the values expected for the outdoor temperature. That shows whether fouling, refrigerant shortage or airflow is at issue.

Trace the leak where needed
If the readings indicate refrigerant loss, we trace the leak with a detector and discuss the repair. Topping up without sealing is a temporary measure and is named as such.

Repair and remeasure
Once you agree, the repair is carried out, evacuating the circuit where needed. We remeasure and compare with the expected values before handing the unit back.
Common causes
Why an AC cools less or leaks water
Weaker cooling rarely comes from one broken part alone. Fouling, refrigerant shortage or a slower fan all look the same. Without pressure and temperature readings, diagnosis is guesswork.
Water from the indoor unit almost always points to the condensate route, a blocked tray or a pump that no longer draws. That is a different trail from a gas leak and needs different actions.
Repeated topping up without leak tracing hides a leak and brings the problem back. So we separate fouling from refrigerant loss before we replace parts.

Do you also replace compressors?
Yes when diagnosis shows it, after your go-ahead. Sometimes replacing the unit is wiser; we say so honestly based on age, leak position and cost.
Do I get a warranty on the repair?
Up to 2 years warranty on labour; parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.
When should you call an air conditioning technician straight away?
Some signs call for switching the unit off rather than letting it run: a burning smell, an unusual mechanical noise, water running from the indoor unit, ice that stays on the coil, or a breaker that trips on start-up. Turn the system off and leave it off: running it through those signs can make the fault worse.
