Camera inspection in Belgium

Many drainage problems cannot be seen from the outside. A pipe may be cracked, a joint may have shifted, there may be a reverse gradient where water stands, or roots may have worked in through a hairline crack. Until somebody looks inside, it is all guesswork.

The camera turns that uncertainty into a finding. We measure the distance to the defect, identify what it is and judge how serious it is. That precision changes everything: it avoids opening a trench blind and aims the repair at the place where it is genuinely needed.

An inspection is also an excellent move before buying a property: it reveals the hidden condition of the pipework, a repair item that can weigh heavily if you only find it once it is too late.

A pipe that blocks for no obvious reason almost always hides a specific defect. Roots are among the most common: drawn by the moisture, they work in through a joint or a hairline crack, then form a mat that catches everything passing through. The camera shows exactly which metre they enter at, so we can cut at the right spot instead of feeling our way along the whole run.

Then come the structural defects. A crack or a crushed pipe slows the flow and snags waste; a displaced joint creates a step where water hits and deposits gather; a reverse gradient (a stretch where the pipe rises instead of falling) leaves water standing and drives repeat blockages. From a chamber these are invisible; on screen they are perfectly clear.

Finally, the camera reveals the deposits that cut the usable diameter: congealed grease in a kitchen waste pipe, limescale on the walls, sand or silt gathered at a low point. For each of them, knowing what you are dealing with changes the cleaning method: high-pressure jetting does not treat roots the way it treats a film of grease. Filming first means choosing the technique that fits what the footage showed, and avoiding a repeat job that, without a diagnosis, would only have moved the problem a few metres along.

A camera inspection is only worth it if it saves you money in the end.
