High-pressure jetting in Belgium

Once grease, silt and limescale have settled along metres of pipe, punching a channel through them is not enough. High-pressure jetting lifts the deposits off the whole pipe wall and gives the run back its full diameter. It is the reference method for sewers, long pipe runs and commercial installations, reactively and preventively alike.

The sequence

How a jetting job unfolds

Professional jetting adapts to your installation. Here are the four steps, from finding the access to checking the result.

  1. 01

    Finding the access

We look for the suitable entry point, a chamber, an inspection cover or an existing outlet, so the pipe can be treated along its whole length rather than over a single stretch.

  2. 02

    Matched settings

We select the nozzle and the pressure according to the diameter and material of the pipe, because a domestic PVC run is not treated the way a clay collector is.

  3. 03

    Jetting the wall

The hose travels forward lifting grease, silt and limescale off the full circumference of the wall. The loosened material is carried downstream and away with the water.

  4. 04

    Checking the result

We confirm the flow has been restored and, on heavy networks or buried runs, we can verify the result on camera before leaving the site.

How it works

How high-pressure jetting actually works

The principle rests on a special nozzle fitted to the end of a hose connected to a pump. That nozzle carries a few jets angled backwards: they pull the hose further along the pipe and, at the same time, drive water against the wall to lift the deposits off. On the most heavily fouled networks we use rotating nozzles whose jets spin and sweep the full circumference, including the most stubborn grease and limescale.

The pressure is never set at random. We match it to the pipe's diameter and material: a domestic PVC run is not treated like a clay or concrete collector. The right nozzle-and-pressure pairing cleans deeply without tiring the pipe. It is that adjustment, more than raw power, that separates professional jetting from an ordinary water jet.

The water and the loosened residue are then carried downstream and away through the network. The pipe recovers its original full bore, not just a trickle, which is what makes a properly executed result last.

Reactive or preventive

Fix it once, or maintain it over time

Jetting is called on in two ways. Reactive jetting steps in when the pipe is already blocked or badly slowed: the job is then to restore the flow and strip the wall back. It is the answer to a situation that has deteriorated, often after months of grease and silt building up quietly.

Preventive jetting is not about repair but about stopping the problem happening. By scheduling a regular pass before the deposits reach blockage stage, you keep a healthy pipe and avoid the overflows that always arrive at the worst possible moment. For a commercial kitchen, a building with shared stacks or a long buried network, that planned maintenance costs considerably less than repeated emergency call-outs.

The two approaches complement each other: a first reactive visit brings the network back up to standard, then a suitable maintenance rhythm holds that result. After a first pass, we tell you straight whether preventive follow-up is justified in your case or not.

The thorough method

Cleaning the whole pipe wall

In a fouled pipe, the deposit is not confined to the blockage point: it lines the wall along the entire run. Mechanical clearing punches a tunnel through that layer and restores the flow, but the material stays put and closes up again bit by bit.

High-pressure jetting works differently. The nozzle drives water backwards and sideways: it advances along the pipe while stripping grease, silt and limescale off the wall. The material is carried away with the water, and the pipe recovers its full usable diameter, not just a narrow channel.

That difference is why jetting lasts far longer on long runs and sewers, and why it is the basis of effective preventive maintenance.

Warning signs

When high-pressure jetting is the right call

Jetting targets deposits settled along a whole length, where a simple clearance would not hold. These signs point to it.

  • The flow slows along a long pipe run, not at a single point.
  • Clearances only hold for a few weeks.
  • A smell persists despite the blockage being cleared.
  • Several outlets in a building slow down at the same time.
  • A commercial kitchen fouls its traps and pipes quickly.
  • A sewer or collector has gone years without maintenance.

Transparent pricing

What determines the price

Our call-outs start from €63.60 incl. VAT (6 % for homes over 10 years old, otherwise 21 %).

The price of a jetting job depends on the length to be treated, the pipe diameter, the access and the state of the network, with no nasty surprise added at the end. Before starting, we assess those elements and give you a clear estimate. You know what to expect, whether it is a one-off pass or planned maintenance.

Regular preventive jetting almost always works out cheaper than the repeated emergencies it prevents. Call us for a first indication and a free quote tailored to your installation.

How much does this service cost?

Our call-outs start from €63.60 incl. VAT (6 % for homes over 10 years old, otherwise 21 %). The price of a jetting job depends on the length to be treated, the pipe diameter, the access and the state of the network, with no nasty surprise added at the end.

What does high-pressure jetting involve?

A hose fitted with a nozzle is fed into the pipe and delivers water at high pressure. The rearward-angled jets lift grease, silt, limescale and deposits off the whole wall while driving the hose further along the run. The result: the pipe recovers its original diameter instead of merely being punctured.

How is it different from simple mechanical clearing?

The auger punctures the blockage and restores a channel; the deposit lining the wall stays put and closes up again. Jetting removes the material itself along the whole treated length. On a short waste pipe with one isolated blockage, mechanical clearing is enough; on a long fouled run, only jetting holds.

Can high pressure damage my pipes?

Not when it is set correctly. We match the nozzle and pressure to diameter and material: domestic PVC, clay, cast iron and concrete are not treated the same way. On a pipe that is already cracked or has subsided, we see it on camera and adapt the job rather than forcing it.

Is preventive jetting worth it?

For a commercial kitchen, a building with shared stacks or a long buried network, yes: a scheduled pass costs considerably less than an emergency mid-service. For a house with no history of blockages, it is not necessary. After a first jetting job we tell you straight which case you are in.

Do you cover sewers and commercial installations?

Yes. We jet a domestic waste pipe as readily as a collector, a hospitality grease trap or a building's stacks, and we can work outside service hours so your business is not interrupted.

When should you call a drain technician straight away?

Some signs mean the blockage is no longer local: waste water backing up into a shower, sink or toilet, several fixtures draining slowly at the same time, water rising from a yard gully, or a sewer smell that lingers despite ventilation. In those cases, avoid reaching for chemical drain cleaners again and again: they attack seals and pipework without reaching a blockage further down the run.

Why Van Dijk Home

Unblocking punches a tunnel through the deposit; jetting removes the deposit itself. That is the difference between a flow that lasts a few weeks and a pipe stripped back to bare wall along its whole length.
