Multi-split systems in Belgium
In a multi-split, several indoor units depend on one shared outdoor unit, which introduces a distribution question that a single system does not have. If all units run together, the outdoor unit must deliver that total; if only one runs, it must not be oversized for that single room. So we calculate the load per room and the realistic simultaneity, and distribute the output on those two bases.

Our approach
Size the multi-split on load and simultaneity
For every multi-split we follow the same order: load per room and simultaneity, distribution and routes, install and test, then commission unit by unit and in combination.
- 01
Establish load and simultaneity
We calculate the load per room and review which rooms are genuinely used together. Bedrooms and living space are rarely cooled at once, and that changes the outdoor capacity required.
- 02
Mark out distribution and routes
Each indoor unit receives an output matched to its room, and line lengths are kept as equal as possible. Large differences between branches make refrigerant distribution uneven.
- 03
Install and test
The branches are installed, evacuated together and checked for tightness. On a multi-split this step weighs more heavily, since a leak on one branch affects every unit.
- 04
Commission unit by unit
Each indoor unit is commissioned and measured on its own, then in combination. That shows whether the distribution holds when several rooms are cooled at the same time.
Why distribution matters
Where a multi-split goes out of balance
An outdoor unit sized only on the sum of all indoor units is oversized when a single room runs alone. Short cycling and poor dehumidification follow, especially in bedrooms.
Large length differences between line branches make refrigerant distribution uneven. One unit then cools well while another lags, without a fault.
A leak on one branch affects every unit. Evacuation and tightness checks therefore weigh more on a multi-split than on a single split.

Signs to watch
When a multi-split or redistribution makes sense
These situations point to several zones, uneven cooling or a system that needs redistributing.
- You want to cool several rooms with one visible outdoor unit.
- One room cools well while another stays warm on the same system.
- Bedrooms and living space are rarely cooled at the same time.
- An existing multi-split short-cycles when only one unit runs.
- Line lengths between units differ sharply after an earlier extension.
- You plan to add an indoor unit to the existing outdoor unit.
Before we start
What you can prepare for a multi-split survey
Clarity on which rooms are used together speeds the distribution of output.
- 01
List rooms and simultaneous use
Note which rooms are truly cooled together. Bedrooms at night and living space by day change the outdoor capacity required.
- 02
Suggest a place for each indoor unit
Think airflow, furniture and access for filter cleaning. We check that air does not blow at seating height.
- 03
Review a shared outdoor position
One outdoor unit needs free air and acceptable noise for all branches. Note façade or terrace constraints.
- 04
Mention an existing split you want to extend
Not every outdoor unit accepts an extra indoor unit. Serial number and nameplate help us check quickly.

A quote for the whole network
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site.
Price depends on the number of indoor units, branch lengths, the outdoor unit and access. Two units close together are not priced like four units with long, uneven routes.
After the on-site survey you get a quote before we start. Call us for an initial indication, with no obligation.
Benefits
- Load per room and simultaneity calculated together
- Distribution chosen so a single running unit is not oversized
- Routes per unit marked out with limited length differences
- Outdoor unit sited for noise and free airflow
- Every indoor unit commissioned and measured separately

+32 2 000 00 00What does a multi-split installation cost?
Installation on quote: we set the price after a visit on site. The final price depends on the number of indoor units, the length of the pipe runs, the outdoor unit chosen and how accessible the positions are.
Is a multi-split better than several single splits?
Not automatically. Multi-split saves outdoor units, but distribution must be right. Sometimes two singles are simpler to service. We compare both on your floor plan.
Can all indoor units run at full output together?
Only if the outdoor unit is sized for that. In homes simultaneous use is often lower; we size on that. The assumption is written into the quote.
Can I add an indoor unit later?
Sometimes, if the outdoor unit and lines allow it. We check type, remaining capacity and access before promising an extension.
Is each unit commissioned separately?
Yes. We measure each indoor unit alone and then in combination so distribution holds under simultaneous use as well.
Do I get a warranty on the installation?
Up to 2 years warranty on labour; parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty.
When should you call an air conditioning technician straight away?
Some signs call for switching the unit off rather than letting it run: a burning smell, an unusual mechanical noise, water running from the indoor unit, ice that stays on the coil, or a breaker that trips on start-up. Turn the system off and leave it off: running it through those signs can make the fault worse.
