Emergency plumber in Belgium
A leak does not stop at midnight and a burst pipe will not wait until Monday. In an emergency, limiting damage comes first: water that keeps running ruins floors, walls and belongings. Van Dijk Home's emergency plumber line is available 24/7.

Our emergency method
Control first, then repair with a clear price
Every emergency visit follows the same order: phone triage and safety, on-site diagnosis, temporary damage control, then definitive repair or planned follow-up.
- 01
Phone availability and first triage
You call our emergency line, day or night. We ask what is running, whether there is a gas smell and whether the main stopcock is reachable. For a gas smell or fire risk we direct you to 112 first. Then we schedule according to availability.
- 02
Diagnosis on arrival
On site we establish whether it is a supply leak, a burst pipe, a failed water heater or severe waste backflow. That diagnosis decides whether we can repair straight away or must stabilise first.
- 03
Stop the damage temporarily
We isolate the circuit involved, clear standing water and make electrical zones safe. Temporary sealing or a bypass limits further water damage until the right parts or a follow-up visit are available.
- 04
Definitive repair or planned follow-up
Where a definitive repair is possible on site, it follows agreement on price. If a part is missing or the zone needs more work, we schedule a focused follow-up so the emergency stop and the repair stay clearly separate.
- 05
Evening, night and weekend rates
For every job, including evenings or weekends, you hear the rate before we begin. Evening, night and public-holiday surcharges are named upfront so there are no surprises on the invoice.
When to call the emergency line
Situations that should not wait
Call at once for flooding in a home or business, a burst or cracked pipe that keeps running, or severe waste backflow that threatens sanitary fittings or floors. Every minute water keeps flowing, the damage grows.
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, call 112 first and leave the property if in doubt. Do not operate switches and put out open flames. Our emergency line then helps with the technical follow-up once immediate safety is secured.
No heating or hot water in mid-winter can feel urgent, especially with young children or vulnerable occupants. We assess by phone whether an emergency visit is needed or a fast booking is enough. Pure blockages without water damage belong with drainage. Where backflow risks flooding, the emergency plumber remains the right first call.
Related work
From emergency stop to focused repair
An emergency visit stops the acute problem. We then often link detection, leak repair, pipework, gas checks or water-heater work to what we find on site.
- Leak repair - repair a visible or reachable leak with focus
- Leak detection - locate a hidden leak before opening up
- Gas leak detection - safely check a smell or suspect joint
- Water pipe replacement - when a section is too far gone for a local repair
- Water heater - failed heater or hot-water fault after the emergency stop
Emergency signals
Spot when you should call at once
These signs point to a situation where waiting until the next working day often means more damage and higher cost.
- Water covers the floor or rises visibly in a room.
- A pipe has burst or cracked and keeps losing water.
- You smell gas or hear a suspect hiss near a gas joint.
- Severe waste backflow from traps or inspection points.
- The main stopcock does not stop the flow or is unreachable.
- No hot water or heating in a cold spell, with risk to occupants.
Until we arrive
What to do while you wait for the emergency plumber
The minutes between your call and our arrival matter. A few steps already limit the damage. Arrival time depends on traffic and availability.
- 01
Shut the main stopcock
For a leak or flood, close the main water valve, usually in the cellar, garage or beside the meter. Note where it is so you can find it again later.
- 02
Make electrical zones safe
If water is near sockets, the consumer unit or appliances, switch off the circuit involved at the board. Do not touch wet electrical parts.
- 03
Limit spread and move valuables
Move furniture and rugs out of the wet zone and catch water with buckets or towels. With backflow, stop using water in the home until we arrive.
- 04
Gas smell: 112 first, then our line
Open windows, do not operate switches or plugs, put out flames and leave if in doubt. Call 112 for immediate danger. Then call us for the technical follow-up.
Transparent emergency rates
What determines the price
Our call-outs start from €63.60 incl. VAT (6 % for homes over 10 years old, otherwise 21 %).
The price of an emergency visit depends on the time of day, the nature of the problem and the time and materials the repair needs. A call in office hours costs less than a night, weekend or public-holiday attendance, when an emergency rate applies.
We always communicate that rate in advance. After a short phone description you know what the visit involves, before the technician leaves. That way there are no surprises on the invoice.
Benefits
- Phone guidance to shut off water or gas safely

+32 2 000 00 00What does an emergency plumber cost outside office hours?
Our call-outs start from €63.60 incl. VAT (6 % for homes over 10 years old, otherwise 21 %). The final price depends on the kind of emergency, how accessible the pipe is, the parts needed and the timing: evenings, weekends and public holidays can carry a supplement, which we always tell you about upfront.
How quickly does an emergency plumber arrive?
In a true emergency your call gets priority and we schedule depending on the area and availability. Exact arrival depends on your location, traffic and how busy we are at that moment. You know where you stand as soon as you call.
What can I call the emergency plumber for?
For flooding, a leaking or burst pipe, severe waste backflow, a failed water heater or pressure fault, and a suspected gas leak after the safety steps. Pure blockages without flood risk belong with drainage. If unsure, call us: we say whether emergency attendance is needed.
Is Van Dijk Home really reachable 24 hours a day?
Yes. At night, on weekends and on public holidays our emergency line stays open for urgent situations. A leak or fault does not keep office hours.
What should I do while waiting for the emergency plumber?
For water damage, shut the main stopcock, switch off electricity near wet sockets or the consumer unit, and move valuables out of the wet zone. If you smell gas: ventilate, do not operate switches, leave if in doubt and call 112 first.
Is the problem repaired definitively straight away?
Where possible we repair on site after agreeing the price. Sometimes temporary damage control comes first, then a planned follow-up when parts or more work are needed.
When should you call a plumber straight away?
Some signs are worth acting on straight away: a leak you cannot stop, water coming through a ceiling or a wall, a damp patch that keeps spreading, a sudden drop in pressure throughout the house, or water near a consumer unit or an electrical appliance. Close the main stop valve first: it limits the damage while the cause is being traced.
