Overview
Gas network, boiler, servicing: who does what in Anderlecht?
In Anderlecht, the gas network and the meter are the responsibility of Sibelga. The boiler, radiators, controls and flue after the meter are the owner’s responsibility, as is the periodic servicing that the regional rules require. Anderlecht bars a domestic duct from being run inside a party wall, from discharging on a front facade, and from ending within 0.60 metre of a window. Outlets must also be grouped to limit the number of stacks. In the Brussels-Capital Region the periodic EPB inspection is mandatory every two years for a gas boiler or gas water heater and every year for an oil or solid-fuel boiler, and only a technician accredited by Bruxelles Environnement may carry it out and file the digital attestation.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
A question about heating in Anderlecht? Call us, we answer in person.
Smell of gas or boiler breakdown in Anderlecht: who do you call?
If you smell gas, do not touch any switch, leave the home and call the gas network operator (Sibelga) or 112 from outside: the gas pipe up to and including the meter belongs to the network. The boiler, radiators and controls after the meter belong to the owner’s installation; that is where we work.
What should I do if my gas connection in Anderlecht needs an upgrade or is new?
If you require a new gas connection or a change in capacity for an existing one in Anderlecht, you must contact Sibelga. As the sole distribution network operator for gas across the Brussels-Capital Region, Sibelga handles all aspects of the gas network before any boiler installation or upgrade can proceed.
How does water hardness in Anderlecht affect my boiler maintenance?
Vivaqua publishes data on water hardness per address in Brussels, which varies with the source. Hard water can lead to faster scale build-up in boilers and heat exchangers. This information is crucial for determining how often descaling should be included in your boiler's maintenance schedule to ensure its efficiency and longevity.
How much does a heating call-out cost in Anderlecht?
Depending on the appliance, the parts and the repair needed, from €72.60 incl. 21% VAT.
When should you call a heating engineer straight away?
If you smell gas, leave the home and call 112, and do not keep resetting a boiler that locks out again and again.
