Overview
Installing air conditioning in Uccle: the rules to know
In Uccle, the connection and the meter belong to the network operator Sibelga; the circuit and air-conditioning units after the meter are the owner’s responsibility. Houses make up 27.1 percent of Uccle dwellings, double the regional share. The regional exemption only covers a unit standing on the ground, three metres from boundaries and out of sight, which a garden makes realistic more often here. Brussels treats air conditioning as a regulated technical installation under the EPB rules of Bruxelles Environnement, with periodic inspection obligations and an accredited professional required. An installation is therefore planned around those recurring obligations, not around the appliance alone.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
A question about air conditioning in Uccle? Call us, we answer in person.
Do you need a permit for an outdoor unit in Uccle?
It depends on where it goes. An outdoor unit visible from the street, on the front façade or on the roof, may fall under the municipality’s planning rules: check with the planning department of Uccle before installation. In a block of flats, the owners’ general meeting usually has to agree. During the site visit we check the planned position, the condensate drain and the noise towards the neighbours.
What are the EPB rules for air conditioning in Uccle?
In Uccle, as part of the Brussels region, air conditioning installations are considered regulated technical installations under the EPB rules of Bruxelles Environnement. This means they require periodic inspections by an accredited professional.
Do I need a permit for air conditioning installation in a house in Uccle?
Uccle has a higher proportion of houses, which can sometimes benefit from regional exemptions for certain permit-exempt works. Generally, if a unit is on the ground, three meters from boundaries, and out of sight, it might be exempt.
How much does an air conditioning call-out cost in Uccle?
Depending on the units and the job, from €63.60 incl. VAT (6 % for homes over 10 years old, otherwise 21 %).
When should you call an air conditioning technician straight away?
Switch it off and call for a burning smell, odd noise, water from the indoor unit or a tripping breaker.
